Robert Bob Crane, 61, of Marshalltown, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital on November 3, 2014, surrounded by his family. Memorial services for Bob will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Henrys Catholic Church with Father Don Czapla officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil service. Bob will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Robert Crane was born on November 17, 1952, in Denison, Iowa, to parents, Franklin Kermit and Beulah (Reis) Crane. He graduated from Dunlap High School and went on to earn a degree in history and coaching, with a teaching certificate from the University of Northern Iowa, and a degree in Accounting from Iowa State University. He married Marla DeHague on September 24, 1983 at St. Marys Catholic Church in West Burlington, Iowa. Since 1989, Bob worked for the State of Iowa in the Department of Inspection and Appeals. He was a member of the UNI and ISU Alumni Associations. He enjoyed sports, especially if his beloved Green Bay Packers or the New York Yankees were playing. He loved everything Iowa State. Bob enjoyed reading and had a passion for history. He also enjoyed music, especially The Beatles. But more than anything, Bob cherished his family. Left to mourn his passing are Bobs wife of 31 years, Marla, and their daughter, Mary Crane. His siblings: Gene (Andie) Crane of Exira, Iowa; Gary (Connie) Crane of Aurora, Missouri; Judy Crane of Dunlap, Iowa; and Donna Windle (Jeff Robinson) of Sioux City, Iowa; as well as his many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who were very close to his heart. Joining him in death are Bobs parents, Kermit and Beulah; brothers: Jim Crane and Richard (Fonce) Crane; and his nephew, Gary Lynn Crane.
