Bobbie Dwight Bob Alexander, 84, of Green Valley, Arizona, formerly of Marshalltown and Rhodes, died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, December 25th. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5th, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Eden Cemetery at Rhodes. There will be no visitation. Born on December 2nd, 1928, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Hugh and Edith (Freland) Alexander. He graduated from the Rhodes High School. Bob was a salesman and counter operator for Arnold Motor Supply in Marshalltown and later for Genuine Auto Parts in Colorado. He also was a painter of heavy equipment for Wagner Equipment. Bob served on the Board of Directors of the Villages of Green Valley, Arizona and was awarded Villager of the Year. Mr. Alexander enjoyed baseball and was a left-handed semi-pro pitcher, bowling, hunting, the outdoors, feeding his birds, mushroom hunting, driving his golf cart and waving at friends in Green Valley, watching the Denver Broncos and John Elway, working on cars doing handy-work for others and in the past few years enjoyed citrus trees and other plants at his Arizona home. Left to cherish his memory are his children- Robert Alexander, Sarah Jones, Bartley Alexander and Clark Alexander; his grandchildren- Nathan Jones, Chelsea Jones, Andrew Alexander and Matthew Alexander; brother Mike Alexander and many friends. In death, he rejoined his parents, brothers Leo John Alexander and Leland Alexander and sisters Alice Stressman and Lela Long.
