Bonnie Mason

Bonnie Mason, 95 years old of Marshalltown, Iowa went to be with the Lord, Thursday August 20, 2020.  She was born in Marshalltown, Iowa January 17, 1925 to William and Elizabeth (Hill) Heckle.  Bonnie graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1943. She worked at Marshalltown Manufacturing, Grocery Mills, and retired from Marshalltown High School Cafeteria after 25 years. Mrs. Mason was born and raised in Marshalltown, Iowa where she lived her life until 6 years ago, at which time she moved to Sherman TX to be near her daughter and son in law; Frank and Laura King.  She loved life, never met a stranger, and was happiest with her grand dog, Roscoe King.  He visited her daily and her world lit up when he was in the room, as did his when he saw her.  She loved listening to country western music, loved to travel, and loved going out to eat (especially ice cream)! Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Red" Mason, her parents, brother, Howard Heckle, and two sisters; Evelyn Wildeboer and Ruth Tufte.   Mrs. Mason is survived by her four children; Laura King (Frank), Scot Mason, Mike Mason (Barb)  and Teri Russell as well as grandchildren; Mason Barlow, Jeremy McCammant (Mishelle), Cherie' Webber, Scott Mason (Amy), Dan Mason, Shawn Mason, and one great granddaughter, MacKenzie Mason, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bonnie died peacefully at the Woodlands Nursing home under the care of Home Hospice, surrounded by family.  Family would like to thank all of her care givers. Funeral services will be Friday Aug 28th at 11:00AM at Mitchell Family Funeral home 1209 Iowa Avenue West  Marshalltown, Iowa 50158.  Viewing will be same day from 10:00AM - 10:45 AM prior to the service. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in Mrs. Mason's name to Diamond in the Ruff Rescue PO Box 1715 Marshalltown, IA  50158.
