Bonnie Scott

December 19, 1935 — February 2, 2017

The life-loving spirit of 81 year old Bonnie Scott of Marshalltown departed this life to rejoin her beloved Bud who died 25 years before. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 7th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with John Whitehead officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Center School Cemetery. Born Bonnie Olson, on December 19th, 1935, in Rudd, Iowa, she was the daughter of Warren and Edna (Seaver) Olson. She graduated from the Rudd High School and later from Marshalltown School of Nursing in 1957 with her R.N. degree. During this time, she worked at various jobs to support her schooling. In January of that same year, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leonard Bud Scott in Missouri with his parents as witnesses. Bonnie was passionate about her nursing career. She worked many years at the Evangelical Hospital, later MACH and MMSC as well as nursing homes and also worked alongside her husband and brother-in-law at Scotts DX, Pastime Tavern on 1st Avenue for 26 years with Bud, the Embers in the kitchen, KC Hall as bartender and assisting in homecare of Mike Moehrl. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Debra (the late Robert) Collins, Lindi (Curt) Bennett, Maria Sally (Roger) Davis and Tamara Scott; her grandchildren- Scott (Amber) Mills, Sr., April (Brett) Burr, Loren Davis, Elisha (Randy) Brindle, Crystal Prusha, Leonard Scott, Jr., Jeff Mills, Jesse Albee and Kendra Shannon as well as great-grandchildren- Scott Jr., Shelby, Hunter, Ryder, Blake, Amber, Taylor and Zophia Mae. Also surviving are step-great-grandchildren- Tyler, Anna, Jacob, Klyne and Chase as well as her siblings- James Olson, June Klemas, Vern Olson, Sharon Paulus, Darlene Norton, Joanne Felton, Larry Olson, Dale Olson and Lois Long. In death, Bonnie rejoined her husband Bud, her son-in-law Bob Collins, her parents, brothers-in-law Roger and Paul and sisters-in-law Marilyn and Margaret.
