Born LaVonne R. Adair on August 19, 1934 at the family home in LeGrand, the third of four children born to Orville and Mildred (Richards) Adair. She attended country school, walking to school with her siblings and hitching a ride home from a horse named Babe. She graduated from LeGrand High School in the class of 1952.
On February 22, 1953, Bonnie was united in marriage with William “Bill” Sievers at the Carlton Brethren Church in Garwin. They were blessed with four children: Gary, Gerene, Jill and Joy.
Bonnie found great joy in spending time with friends, whether playing cards late into the night after birthday celebrations or volunteering every Wednesday at the hospital gift shop. She and Bill always looked forward to the Pepper tournaments at Corner Tap every Sunday. They also enjoyed camping for several years at the Iowa State Fair.
Bonnie was a Chicago Cubs fan and was able to travel to Wrigley Field multiple times with the YMCA bus tours. She was also an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, especially the men’s basketball team in the 1980s when she had a crush on Lute Olsen. Bonnie had a collection of small shoes that was started by her dad when she was young, and the tradition continued for years from all her family members.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, in 2009; her son, Gary; sisters, Betty Keen and Dee Kinney; and brother-in-law, Gib Rockhill. She is survived by her daughters: Gerene Thompson of Marshalltown, Jill Sievers (Dennis Clemens) of Eldora, and Joy Sievers (Marsha Hillman) of Traer; granddaughter, Lindsey Stotts; and great-grandson, Willey Stotts. She is also survived by her sister, Barb Rockhill of Washington; and brother-in-law, Jack Keen of Marshalltown.
