Bonnie Vilez

Bonnie Vilez, 61, longtime Garwin resident, most recently of Marshalltown, died Thursday evening, June 4th, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown with family at her side. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Memorials may be directed to her family. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born Bonnie Kay Untiedt on February 25th, 1954, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Harold and Wanda (Hutchison) Untiedt. She was raised in Garwin and graduated from the Garwin High School. Bonnie was united in marriage to Dave Vilez, Sr. and together they were blessed with three children before parting. Bonnie was employed for nearly 20 years at the Grandview Heights in Marshalltown until her health failed. She greatly enjoyed time with family and friends and going fishing. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Mike (Dyann) Vilez of Norwalk, Eli (Kelli) Vilez of Gilman and Traci Vilez of Marshalltown; six grandchildren- Alyssa, Lana, Sydney, Jacob, Gage and Hunter; two great-grandchildren- Mila and Warren as well as her siblings-Leonard (Liz) Untiedt of Garwin, Betty (Mike) Mathern of Garwin, Becky (Kendall) Starits of Marshalltown, brother-in-law Steve Wooten of Elkhart, IN, and many nieces, nephews and friends. In death, she rejoined her parents Harold and Wanda, sister Barb Wooten and niece Alyx Lynn Starits.
