Bonnie "White Lighting" Stansberry

Bonnie Stansberry, 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Iowa Veterans Home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. The family wanted to express their love to both the Veterans Home and Iowa River Hospice. Following Bonnie’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public services held at this time. Hawkins was born on April 4, 1932 in St. Clair, MO, the daughter of John and Buelah (Beard) Hawkins.  She attended school up through high school, where Bonnie graduated from high school.  On December 1, 1956, Bonnie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jerry Stansberry, in Marshalltown.  From this union three children were born: Judi, JoAnn and Jack.Bonnie was a hardworking woman, dedicating a majority of her working career at Clemons Chevrolet as a courtesy driver in Marshalltown, Iowa, where she gained her nickname “White Lightning”.  She was a very outgoing person, and was proud of creating “Bonnie’s Card Club” that lasted for over 50 years.  She was also a member of the local women’s bowling league and enjoyed playing cards.  She had a passion for bowling, bingo, crosswords, word finds and being the one woman neighborhood watch.  Bonnie was a woman who never knew a stranger.  Left to cherish her memory are her children: Judi (Jim) Pfantz, JoAnn (Harold) Rice and Jack (Lori) Stansberry; grandchildren: Josh Stansberry, Jimmy (Maegann) Stansberry, Summer (Henry) Lai, Jeri (Jo) Stansberry and Sharissa Stansberry; two great-grandchildren, Ila and Vada Lai, as well as one sister, Twila (Rob) Wilds of Grand Junction, CO.She is preceded in death her loving husband, Jerry; parents John and Buelah, as well as one sister, Manzie.
