Brian Jones

Brian Jones, 43, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, March 30, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines with his loving family at his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Born on April 10th, 1969, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Carl and Marlys (Funke) Jones. He graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 1987. Later, he received his education from Iowa State University, MCC and Buena Vista, graduating with his BS degree. Brian was employed with the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Info Technologies for 16 years. He loved playing softball and until recently, served on the Board of Directors for the Marshalltown Softball Association. He enjoyed an eclectic taste of music, loved animals, sports, discussing his views of politics and sailing. On August 13th, 2009, he was united in marriage to Lisa Thompson at Lake Koronis, Minnesota. They made their home in Marshalltown. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lisa, his children Miranda and James, his father Carl of Marshalltown, brother Steve (Lori) Jones of Marshalltown, sister Jennifer (Jerry) Moffitt of Elkhart, Iowa, as well as being B to his nieces and nephews- Stephanie, Jessica, Dale and Hunter. Also surviving are many friends and other family who loved Brian very much. In death, he was able to rejoin his mom, Marlys, his grandparents and uncle, David Funke.
