Mr. Brian Weitzell, 50, of rural Gladbrook, died suddenly on Sunday, June 7th, at the MMSC Emergency Room. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Wach of the Gladbrook Chapel United Methodist Church officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born on September 13th, 1958, in Marshalltown, he was one of three sons born to Vernon and Shirley (Fisher) Weitzell. He graduated from the Green Mountain High School in 1977. On May 9th, 1981, he was united in marriage to Terri Crawford in Garwin. They made their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Spring, Texas, Iowa Falls and most recently back to his family home area near Gladbrook. Brian was a mechanic for Southard Implement for the past five years. He was a member of the Gladbrook Chapel United Methodist Church and treasured his family. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and the outdoors and trips to Minnesota and the Lake of the Ozarks. He will be greatly missed by many. Left to cherish his memory are Terri, his loving wife of 28 years, son Kyle (Angela) Weitzell of Houma, Louisiana and daughter Lauren (Kevin) Fridley of Altoona, his father Vernon, brothers Craig (Lori) of rural Marshalltown and Mark (Kris) of State Center, his father and mother-in-law Don and Genevieve Crawford of Marshalltown, Uncle Bs special nieces and nephews as well as many family and friends. In death he has rejoined his mother, Shirley, grandparents and uncle Allen Weitzell.
