Brittney Kay Mann, 25, of Marshalltown and Iowa City, passed away at her home in Marshalltown while in the loving care of her family, friends, and her Iowa River Hospice nurse, Karla. A Celebration of Brittneys life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 30th, at the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown with Pastors Pat Sokoll and Joe Abdo of the Mars Hill Church in Iowa City officiating. Communion and words of comfort will be directed by Pastors Dale Batcheler and Alexis Williams of the First United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Following interment, all are invited to the church hall for a dessert fellowship in honor of Brittneys favorite part of a meal- dessert. Visitation will be 2-5:00 p.m. on Sunday at First United Methodist, 202 West Main Street in Marshalltown. A memorial fund is being established. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Brittney Kay Mann on November 9th, 1982, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Shirley (Cassens) Mann. She graduated from the Marshalltown High Schools Class of 2001 and the University of Iowa in 2005. Brittney was employed as a counselor at Concern for Women in Iowa City. She was a member of the Mars Hill Church in Iowa City and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Brittney served God in her passion for the mission field nine times in the lands of Mexico, El Salvador, New Orleans following Katrina, Kentucky, Colorado, Missouri, and Tennessee. She treasured her family and friends and was honored as the Relay for Life Honorary Co-Chairperson in 2007. Tonight (Saturday) is Relay for Life in Marshalltown- please go in honor of Brittney. Left to celebrate her life are her parents Lawrence and Shirley Mann of Marshalltown, her brother Eric of Marshalltown, her Swiss sister Simone Reich, grandparents Harold and Barbara Cassens of Vinton, Clarence Mann of Albion, great-grandmother Vera Hilton of Vinton, aunts/uncles and cousins: Lynnette (Walt) Moss of Cedar Rapids and children Josh (Nicole), Matt (Beth) and Kim; Arlis (Julie) Mann of Marshalltown/Albion and their children Zac, Logan and Blake; Michelle (Mark) Kudlacik of Tomah, Wisconsin and their children Stasha, Kimberley and Alysa; and Merle (Tami) Mann of Oskaloosa and their children Kristi, Robert, Jon, Troy and Jeremiah as well as her church families and many, many friends. In heaven she has rejoined her grandmother, Sharon Kay Mann.
