Bruce M. Koll, age 86, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in the peace of his home in Marshalltown under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial for Bruce will be held Monday, August 15 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Henry Church with Kyle Tietz officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior beginning at 11:00 A.M. Private entombment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Born Bruce Michael Koll on March 19, 1936 in Mason City, Iowa, he was the only son of Clifford and Lois (Picard) Koll. The family relocated to Marshalltown, where he graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Arts degree at Loras College. After meeting the love of his life, Carolyn Hagarty, they were united in marriage on September 12, 1959 in Charles City, Iowa. The couple relocated to Lawton, Oklahoma when Bruce enlisted in the United States Army. They were stationed in Japan from 1960-1961. Upon their return, the couple made their home in Marshalltown, where they raised their six children. Bruce owned and operated his own business, B&K Company. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Henry Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Bruce was a true family man and loved spending time with his family. In his free time, he was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Tom Clancy novels. He loved music and played the drums in the band Frank Brees and the Moonlight Ramblers. He also enjoyed trains and being outside. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Michael (Kendra) Koll of Maquoketa, IA, Mary (Greg) Oetker of Marshalltown, David (Cyndi) Koll of Covington, LA, Debbie (John) Fuller of Marshalltown, Madonna (Ron) Mitchell of Marshalltown, and Matt (Lisa) Koll of Waukee, IA; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Deanna (KC) Johnson of Marshalltown. In eternal life he is reunited with his beloved wife of 61 years, Carolyn and his parents, Clifford and Lois.
