C. Collette Andersen

Collette Andersen, 84, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at home with her daughter by her side and under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Collette and her family. Phone 641-844-1234. Carol Collette Callahan Andersen was born on June 26, 1929, in Minot, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Daniel and Vivian (Kelly) Callahan. Collette attended school in Marshalltown graduating with the class of 1947. She attended Northern Iowa Teachers College. Collette was united in marriage to B. Donald Andersen. Collette and Don lived in Marshalltown where they raised their family. She and Don had 5 children with 4 under the age of 2. As a busy mom, Collette still enjoyed cooking and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed spending weekends at the family trailer on the Iowa River near Albion. When her children were in high school she worked part-time in the office at JC Penny. Collette was a member of St Marys Catholic Church and helped with funeral lunches for many years along with teaching Religious Education. Collette enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, fishing, watching sports, refinishing furniture and always enjoyed a good book. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Don, Dubuque Iowa, Shawn (Tim) Kyndesen, Prairie Village Kansas, Brad (Barbara), San Francisco California, Karen Cathelyn, Geneseo Illionis, and Kirk (Lori), Chandler, Arizona. Grandchildren: Stacey (Mike) Blakeman, Lawrence, Kansas, Eric (Stephanie) Cathelyn, Carmel Indiana, Laura Cathelyn, Des Moines Iowa, Kelly (Taylor) Currie, Gypsum, Kansas, Donnie Andersen, Denver Colorado, Lisa Cathelyn, Minneapolis Minnesota. Great-grandchildren: Lilly and Hunter Cathelyn, Carmel ,Indiana and Baby Girl Blakeman, Lawrence Kansas to arrive April 2014.
