Candace Candy Crandon, 56, of LeGrand, died early Monday morning, July 30, in the peace of her home with her loving family at her side. Her death came peacefully while in care of the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 2, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. A memorial fund is being established and will be divided by the family for causes relating to Iowa River Hospice and Pancreatic Cancer research. Born Candace Lynn Adkins on June 8, 1956, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Homer James and Lucille Mae (Price) Adkins. She graduated from the LeGrand High School (LDF) in 1974. On August 23, 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Crandon in Gilman. Since 1979, they have lived in LeGrand. Candy was employed at the East Marshall Schools and previously Perkins, Meskwaki Casino and Swifts Greenhouses. She adored her grandchildren with one just arriving three weeks ago. She loved preparing for Christmas and her favorite holiday- Halloween. Candy was a patriotic American who flew the flag and was a true Iowa Hawkeye - Black and Gold all the way through. She will be greatly missed by Robert, her loving husband of 36 years, her sons: Matthew (Elizabeth) Crandon of LeGrand and Robert T. (Trina) Crandon of Des Moines, her grandchildren: Austin James, Abigail and Madelynn and her brothers: Scott (Carolyn) Adkins of Marshalltown and Steve Adkins of Parnell, Iowa. In death, she rejoined her parents.
