Carl Edward Lueders, of Marshalltown, was called to his Heavenly home on Sunday evening, December 26, 2010, at the age of 85.Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 31st, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-844-1234.Carl was born on October 8th, 1925, in Pomeroy, Iowa, the son of Ida and Edwin Lueders. Following graduation from high school in Lincoln, Nebraska, he served four years in the United States Navy. He entered Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Illinois and graduated in June of 1952. He was married to Dorothy Goldammer on June 27, 1954.Carl served parishes in Thermopolis, Wyoming; Des Moines, Iowa; Missionary in Japan; Victor, Iowa; Rio Rancho, NM; and Marshalltown, Iowa. He also started missions in Newton, Sigourney, and Grinnell while serving in Iowa.While in Japan, he served the church as Chairman of the Parish Education Committee and Vice President of the Mission. Serving in Iowa District East, he was chairman of the Stewardship Committee, and in the Rocky Mountain District he was Counselor of the Sandia Circuit. He served as LWML Counselor of Iowa District East from 1978-1981. He served as Circuit Counselor for the Marshalltown Circuit for 6 years.Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of Marshalltown, six daughters: Elizabeth (Gerry) Coleman of Roseville, MN; Ruth (Dave) Bischoff of Albertville, AL; Grace (Arvin) Bogaards of Fairfield, Iowa; Jeanette (Mark) Pasier of Blacksburg, VA; Kathryn Lueders (Jeremy Horne) of Seabrooke, TX; Carla (Bruce) Hinrichs, and one son, Mark (Becye) Lueders of Cocoa, Florida as well as 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Louis, of Richmond, VA. There are many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.Carl has donated his body for research to the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
