Carl Lee Rutledge

Carl Lee Rutledge, 72, of Toledo, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Iowa City VA Health Care Systems in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God Church in Tama. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the Tama Meskwaki Celebration Assembly of God. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Carl and his family. Carl Rutledge was born on August 22, 1941, in Tama, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Ester LaGrange Rutledge. Carl loved his country and was in the United States Army until he was honorable discharged on October 23, 1972. On February 30, 1980, Carl married Patricia Keith. Carl retired from PCA in 2004. Carl enjoyed fishing, going to car shows, picking up walnuts and once a year he would play Santa Claus in the community. He was also a police officer for Victor and Tama. Above everything else, he enjoyed attending his grandchildrens sporting activities and just the time he was able to spend with his family. Left to cherish his memory is his children: Anne (Steve Buchanan Jr) Rutledge of Toledo and Lynne Rutledge of Toledo. Grandchildren: Hunter, Kayleigh, Elighjah, Izayah and Carliee. Brothers: Frank Thorp of Waterloo and Homer Rutledge of Thorndale, Iowa and a sister Florence Kroger of Toledo. Carl is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Carl is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Patricia, his brothers; Ted Rutledge and Ronnie Rutledge and sisters Dorothy Mann and Ellen Rutledge in infancy.
