Carl Eugene Warnell, 79, of Marshalltown, currently residing at the Iowa Veterans Home died there early Tuesday morning, May, 3, 2011, while under the care of the Iowa Veterans Home Hospice with his loving family at his side.Carls family will honor his last wishes as there will not be a formal funeral service. Carl was born April 15, 1932, in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of James S. Warnell and Rebecca (Graham) Warnell. He was married to Donna Jean Chase in May of 1951 and they had six sons. Carl was a veteran of the Korean War and received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his service. Carl enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling and woodworking. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include one brother McKinley Warnell of Bella Vista, Arkansas, five children: David J. (Merry) Warnell of Winter, Wisconsin, Brian E. (Roxane) Warnell of Gladbrook, Timothy L. (Kathy) Warnell of Elgin, Texas, Daniel T. Warnell of Marshalltown and Steven L. (Corina) Warnell of Gladbrook, Iowa, sixteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. Preceding Carl in death were his parents, his first wife Donna Jean Warnell, and his second wife Beverly (Chase) Warnell, a son Dennis John Warnell, six brothers: Paul, Clay, Bob, Roger, Richard and a baby brother Wayne Warnell and his two sisters: Winifred Croskey and Marilyn Lannigan.
