December 9, 1954 — February 8, 2024

Carla Morrison, age 69, of Rhodes, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 8th, at the Israel Hospice Home in Ames with her kids at her side.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 14th, at the Rhodes United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest in the Eden Cemetery at Rhodes. There will be no visitation. Born on December 9th, 1954, in Amarillo, TX, she was the daughter of Jerry and Marjorie (Ellis) Morrison. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School and then the Marshalltown Community College with a degree in dental assisting. She graduated with high honors in that program.

Throughout her younger years, she worked hard in the Marshalltown community at KIOWA, Avon, doing childcare, and assisting her mother at the Travelodge. In 1984, she moved with her children to Rhodes.

Carla was plain and simply a great mother. Her children came home to an immaculate house, dinner at night, and linens fresh off the line. Maybe not fond of the animals her kids brought home, she softened because those little ones had nowhere else to go. She had a huge heart for animals- once having 13 cats and a painted turtle along with fish. Her life was blessed with Beulah, Faith, Chasity and Neo the dogs and cats Blue and Tiger. She was forgiving and would do anything for you. Carla enjoyed knitting, crocheting and diamond painting and could be in her own special world listening to music (especially Elvis, Kenny Rogers and Crystal Gayle).

There are three people in the world that state they are better people because of the mother she was: Tonia Sandra Cullor of State Center, Troy Allen Long of Ames and Tony William Long of Rhodes; six grandchildren: Kamille Kathryn Long, Naiya Sue Long, Gryffin Jacob Long, Kayleah Sue Cullor, Madison Louise Cullor and Lukas John Cullor; four great-grandchildren- Rayne Willow, Riley Kay, Caleb Lee and Adrian Robert as well as sisters Sandy Overman of Rhodes and Connie Starn of Marshalltown as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In death, she rejoined her parents, brother Calvin Cooley Morrison, sister Sherry Fae Row, and granddaughter Ariana Mae Long.
