Carol “Chris” Perry, age 81, of Tama, Iowa, passed from this earthly life on the morning of June 7, 2026, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Carol Ann Chrisman was born February 17, 1945, at home in Union, Iowa. She was one of two daughters born to Martin and Inga (Sorensen) Chrisman. Carol spent her early years in Union before moving to Whitten. She attended school in the Union-Whitten Community School District and graduated with the Class of 1963. Carol had the distinct honor of serving as the class president.

After graduating, Carol began working for Fisher Controls in Marshalltown. She eventually transferred to RS Stover and during that time met Dennis “Denny” Perry. Carol went on a couple of dates before realizing that Denny was the love of her life. The two were united in marriage on August 28, 1982, at the American Legion in Marshalltown. From their union, Carol gained two sons, Mike and Tony. Over the years Carol worked at Party Pac Popcorn, Independent Insurance and eventually Grinnell Mutual, retiring in 2011. In addition, Carol and Denny operated The Spur in Marshalltown and Tama.

Carol remained active in every community she was a part of. Over the years she called Marshalltown, Le Grand, Wolf Lake and Tama home since 1991. She was involved with the Eagles Auxiliary of Tama, former member of the Moose Lodge of Marshalltown and Pony Express Riders of Iowa alongside Denny. In her free time, she was an avid reader of mystery novels, enjoyed playing Skip Bo with her family, collecting Southwestern décor, bells and listening Denny when he played his music, as well as going to garage sales. She was a fan of Elvis and had the opportunity to see him perform live in Iowa not far before his passing. She was the one who always kept in touch with her Union-Whitten classmates and helped organize the class reunions. Those who were lucky enough to know her described her as being well liked, always happy and had a great sense of humor. Her family meant the world to her including her many fur babies over the years.

Those left to remember and cherish her memory is her husband of 43 years, Denny, of Tama, IA; her sons- Mike (Sharon) Perry of Clemons, IA and Tony Perry of Tama, IA; three grandchildren: Josh, John and Patricia; two great-grandsons; her sister, Mary (Dean) Mitchell of Marshalltown, IA; brothers-in-law: Kenneth (Eldora) Perry, Delwin (Kathy) Perry and Ace (Barb) Perry along with several nieces and nephews.

In eternal life, she was united with her parents, Martin and Inga Chrisman; her father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Edith Perry; a grandson Kelly and brother-in-law, Alan Perry.
