Carol Fretz

Carol Fretz, 66, of Tama, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown, Iowa, while in the loving care of Iowa River Hospice and her family. Following cremation, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Carols name to her family. Carol was born December 9, 1944, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil and Anna Mae (Wheaton) McSwain. She was raised in Fairfield during her early years until their family moved to California. They returned to Iowa in 1957 and settled in Des Moines, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Edward Ray Fretz on October 16, 1979, in Poteau, Oklahoma. Carol was a very active supporter of the Fellowship Tabernacle in Des Moines where she served as church secretary, treasurer and song leader for over twenty years of dedicated service. Carol is survived by her husband Edward Ray Fretz, of Tama, her brothers; Bob (Carole Ann) McSwain of Puyllup, Washington, nephew David McSwain, Roy McSwain of Marshalltown, Mike (Jane) McSwain of Des Moines, her sister-in-law Shirley McSwain of Altoona, her nephew Sean (Erna) McSwain of Altoona and their children Dylan, Taylor and Sydney, her niece Heidi (Jim) Petak of Puyallup, Washington and their children; Joseph, Benjamin and David, her niece Susan (Mark) Kinney of Altoona and their son Joshua. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Anna Mae, and her brothers James and Paul.
