Carol Maxfield

January 12, 1949 — July 18, 2022

Carol Ann (Van Pelt) Maxfield, age 73, went to her heavenly home on July 18, 2022. Carol was born on January 12, 1949 in Chariton, Iowa and lived the majority of her life in Marshalltown, Iowa. Carol married Al Maxfield in October of 1965. During her marriage she and Al had two sons, Rodney and Kelly. Carol was involved in the nursing field most of her career life around Marshall County. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Carol loved to fish. She also loved her reality shows, soap operas, and many other programs that she had marked up in her T.V. guide listing. Later in life, Carol’s life centered around all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol spent countless hours spending time with her best friend, Pat Willey, mostly going for drives and eating out. In 1994 she met the love of her life, Jerry Farmer. Carol and Jerry spent an amazing 15 years together before he lost his battle with cancer. Carol was preceded in death by her father, Richard Van Pelt, mother, Minnie (Hutson) Van Pelt, brother, Max Van Pelt, brother-in-law, Dale Smith, and her significant other, Jerry Farmer. She is survived by sons, Rodney (Tom) Maxfield of Denver, Colorado, and Kelly (Jill) Maxfield of Lincoln, Nebraska; step-daughters Sherri (Travis) Walker of Parkersburg, Iowa and Sara (Darl) Starek of Ackley, Iowa; Grandchildren, Zachary (Amber) Maxfield, Jacob (Brooklyn) Maxfield, Kelsey (Brandon) Oliveros, Jordan Maxfield, Kayleigh Walker, Cade (Alyson) Kammerer, Tiffany Mersman, Joshy Maxfield, Chase Kammerer, Jaedon Maxfield, Elizabeth Maxfield, Paige Danger, Eva Walker, Stella Walker, Alex Starek; Great-grandchildren, Tyler Maxfield and Madalyn Maxfield; Sisters, Nancy (Fred) Adams and Pauline Smith; Alongside her best friends, Pat Willey and Brenda Wardman. A celebration of life service for Carol will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home.
