Carol A. Wirick, 60, resident of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, died December 29, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospital. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008 at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born Carol Adeline Harding on February 12, 1947 in LaPorte City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Wallace W. Harding and Julia E. Cooper. Carol was united in marriage to James Jim Wirick on June 12, 1978. They resided in Ohio, Texas, Cedar Falls, Waterloo, and Muscatine. In 2003, Carol and Jim moved to the Iowa Veterans Home. Carol was employed as a nurses assistant in nursing homes in Cedar Falls and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Cedar Falls and a Red Hat Lady. Carol enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, stuffed animals, playing Bingo, collecting stickers, and loved cats. Left to celebrate her life are: her husband, Jim of Marshalltown, her son, Russ (Tera) Wirick of Columbus, OH; her daughter, Tina (Nathan) Malvig of Woodbury, MN; granddaughter, Mary Catherine Wirick and grandsons: Clay and Colt Wirick and a granddaughter due in March; brothers: Allen (Deanna) Harding of Marion, Iowa and David (Margaret) Harding of Bemidji, MN; and several cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
