Carolyn Stevenson

Carolyn Stevenson, age 85, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Southridge Nursing Home in Marshalltown.  Per the wishes of Carolyn and her family, a private graveside service will take place to honor her memory.  They are being cared for by Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  For additional questions or to leave a condolence, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Carolyn Mae was born January 7, 1935 in Marshalltown to parents Clarence and Ermline Lee (Brown) Ewalt.  She married Richard Lloyd Stevenson on March 5, 1966.  She was very busy as a homemaker, together raising their nine children.  They were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary the year before Richard’s passing in 2017. Carolyn spent most of her time caring for her large family.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially cookies and candies.  She had a great sense of humor and always played along with the family, especially when they called her “Grandma Turtle.”  She enjoyed ceramics. Left to cherish her memory are her children:  Mark (Julie) Stone of Oskaloosa, Kathi (Ralph) Tree of Farr West, UT, Donna (Chuck) Barker of Marshalltown, Allen (Deb) Stevenson of Davenport, Ronald Stevenson of Rhodes, Steven (Jaye) Stevenson of Eldora, Amy Epley of Peoria, AZ and Susan Johnson of Marshalltown; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her son Les; granddaughter Kristina; her parents, Clarence and Ermline; and siblings Ardis, Ken, Alan, Max, Lois and Mildred.
