Carrol Lunde, 90, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed in Carrols name to his family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Carrol and his family. Carrol Lunde was born on March 7, 1923, in Quarry, Iowa, the son of Jerome and Mamie (Haskell) Lunde. He attended school through 11th grade in Legrand, and completed his senior year in the Madrid School District with the class of 1940 when his family relocated. Carrol served our country honorably in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. In September of 1948, Carrol was united in marriage to Mildred Mickey Dalziel and settled in Traer, Iowa, where they raised their four children. He resided in Marshalltown for many years and moved to the Iowa Veterans Home in 2012. Carrol and his father owned the Lunde Implement Company in Traer. He also worked at the Marshalltown hospital as well as several other jobs in the area. He especially loved singing in his church choir and several nursing homes in the area. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center and the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. He liked to golf and walk in the mall. Carrol was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Larry (Nancy) Lunde, Carolyn (Craig Collins) Lewis and Diane (Tom) Kelleher; 7 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one sister Doris Lunde. In death Carrol rejoins his parents, Jerome and Mamie, wife Mickey, one daughter, Lorraine Stull, and his great-grandson, Blake. The family is very grateful for the loving care and support Carrol received while living at the Iowa Veterans Home.
