Carson Herbert Gard, 73, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Memorial services for Carson will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Carson Gard was born on March 22, 1942 in Marshalltown to Charles B and Muriel Carson Gard. Carson graduated from Beaman Conrad High School in 1960. After high school, Carson was in the National Guard. On November 6, 1964, Carson was united in marriage to Debra Diggins in Marshalltown. Carson had worked at Fisher Control as a Machinist for 42 years, retiring in 2003. Carson loved being outdoors and going for walks. He also owned a 1962 Chevy Bel Air Bubbletop. You didnt meet many people like Carson. He was a strong, kind, caring and wonderful man. He made his family his first priority and would even get down on the floor to play with his grandchildren. Carson is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; Debra. Children: Shannon (Amie) Gard of Marshalltown and Jodi (Rick) VanDewalle of Chelsea. Granddaughters: Sidney and Bella and eight other grandchildren. Carson is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Muriel and siblings: Arlene Roberts, Dorothy Hammer, Mary Gard, Charles Gard and Jerry Gard.
