Catherine Finders

Catherine Finders, 97, of Marshalltown, died early Saturday morning, June 9, at the Iowa River Hospice House with her sons at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at the Ferguson Christian Bible Church with Rev. Darren Young officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Timber Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church in her memory. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Catherine Crouse on September 2, 1914, in Gage, Oklahoma, she was one of nine children born to Franklin Aaron and Laura Crouse. On August 8, 1934, she was united in marriage to Merle Finders in Hardwick, Iowa. They farmed atFerguson for 50 years until retiring into Marshalltown in 1992. Mrs. Finders was an active and faithful member of the Ferguson Christian Bible Church, the Missions Committee and the Ladies Aid. She treasured her family and family reunions, going on bus trips with Merle, making her famous fried chicken, baking, cooking, canning, and teaching Sunday school and VBS. She was the spiritual guidance for her family. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Harvey (Phyllis) Finders of Marshalltown and Chuck (Darlys) Finders of Ferguson; three grandchildren- Tammy Lyn (Scott) Sonksen of Linn Creek, MO, Tracy (Darrin) Nuese of rural Marshalltown and Todd (Mindy) Finders of St. Charles, MO. eight great-grandchildren- Shane Sonksen, Alaina Sonksen, Amanda (Taylor) VandenWynboom, Dustin Nuese, Abby Nuese, Tyler Finders, Trevor Finders, Tucker Finders and twin great-great-grandbabies due in September. In death, she rejoined her husband Merle who died in 2005, daughter Joann, and her siblings- Gladys Boyles, Marie Pigman, Lela Hudson, Thelma Spike, Harry Crouse, Gilbert Crouse, Benny Crouse and Ray Crouse.
