Catherine Mackie, 88, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 13,2013 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from9:30 a.m. until service time. Catherine Ione Glenney was born on September 24, 1924, on a farm south of Union, Iowa, in Hardin County. She was the daughter of Earl Vaughn and Josephine (Pierce) Glenney. She attended school in the Union School District, graduating with the class of 1942. Catherine was united in marriage to Virgil Arthur Mackie on February 23, 1944, at Union Community Church in Union, Iowa. She loved to play bingo at the Senior Center, sew, garden, loved to cook and was a great cookeveryone enjoyed her potato salad. Left to carry on her memory is her daughter, Marlene (Dan) Sanford of Des Moines; Grandchildren: Brian (Dee Dee) Brady, and Daniel Brady; Great-grandchildren: Blake(Jen), Brooke and Danielle Brady; and a great-great-grandchild, Bailey Brady; Sisters: Virginia Harrington and Arlene Crosser. In death she rejoins her parents, Earl and Josephine, husband, Virgil and a brother, Wendell Glenney.
