Friends and family are also invited to attend a visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 11. For questions or condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Born May 2, 1924 in State Center, he was the youngest of 12 children born to Oscar and Josephine (Riemenschneider) Buschbom. He graduated from Lamoille High School with the class of 1943. Cecil went on to enlist in the United States Navy, honorably serving his country in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon his return, Cecil was united in marriage Marian Binford on May 9, 1948 at the Minerva Methodist Church. Together they raised their two sons before her passing in 1974.  Later, he was married to Dorothy (Anderson) Stonewall on February 21, 1976 at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. They were married 30 years before Dorothy’s passing in 2006. Cecil farmed for many years before going on to work for the ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service) Office. He also worked for the Iowa Veterans Home. Cecil was incredibly active in his community, serving for many years on the VFW / American Legion Honor Guard, volunteering at the VA, fundraising and attending dinners at the VFW. He was also a member of Elim Lutheran Church and a consistent 5:00 A.M. YMCA patron, where he enjoyed socializing over coffee after his workouts. Cecil kept a “community garden” every year, preparing the space and allowing anyone in the neighborhood to take part. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons: Steven Buschbom of Readlyn, Iowa and Craig (Marge) Buschbom of Orlando, Florida; and grandchildren: Christian French, Tyler Buschbom and Allison (Nick) Larkins. He is also survived by his stepson, Richard (Jeannie) Stonewall of Marshalltown, their sons: Ben Stonewall (Becky Baus) and Andy (Melany) Stonewall; and their grandchildren: Avery and Cooper Stonewall. In death, he is reunited with his first wife, Marian; his second wife, Dorothy; his parents; three brothers: Arnold, Andy and Oscar and eight sisters: Amanda, Edith, Mildred, Arthera, Helen, Cordela, Florence and Althea.
