Cecil Wehrman, 77, of Conrad, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at MMSC. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2008, at Conrad United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Conrad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-6:00 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Conrad Library or BCLUW Scholarship Fund. Cecil Lloyd Wehrman was born on February 14, 1931, in Marshalltown. He was the son of Lloyd Olmund and Rae (Dannen) Wehrman. He graduated from Conrad High School. Cecil graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Agriculture. While at ISU, he was a member of the Army ROTC. He spenta summer during college working at Yellowstone National Park. He served our country honorably in the United States Army, achieving rank of 1st Lieutenant. Cecil was a life-long farmer. He enjoyed his animals, raising hogs, sheep, dairy cattle, miniature donkeys, pigeons, cats and chickens. He especially loved his rat terriers. He was a member of the Conrad American Legion, Farm Bureau, AARP, and the Conrad United Methodist Church. He enjoyed all sports, especially wrestling. He was interested in antique and classic cars. Cecil was a special, giving person. In death, he continues to be giving as he was able to donate bones and tissues through the Iowa Donor Network. He could be quite a joker, giving funny t-shirts as gifts. He will be remembered fondly and missed greatly. Cecil is survived by his sister, Emma(Lawrence) Nichol of Marshalltown; his nephew, Dan Nichol of Marshalltown, his niece, LeAnn(John) Wax of Marshalltown; his great-nephews, Jason Marken and Brett Wax, both of Marshalltown; and his five beloved rat terriers: Jake, Baby, Pete, and the sisters, Jenny and Molly. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and his dog, Benny.
