Chad Bratland

Outgoing, devoted father Chad Bratland, 41, of Marshalltown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.  Services for Chad will take place on Sunday, August 8 at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with John Whitehead officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Chad will be laid to rest at the Marietta Cemetery in rural Marshalltown. Friends and family are invited to gather at Rumours Sports Bar and Grill following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 2000. He worked for Stone Sanitation and Marquart Block Co. before his most recent endeavor as a cook at Rumours Sports Bar and Grill. Chad’s three daughters were his whole world and his life’s work was making them happy. He loved taking them fishing and making them smile. Chad was a social butterfly and the life of the party. Always joking and pulling pranks, his family lovingly called him the “ring leader of trouble.” He loved blasting his music and found great joy in singing as loud and out of tune as possible, making up words when he didn’t know them. Left to cherish his memory is his three daughters: Teagan, Tatelynn and Trista Bratland, all of Marshalltown; his dad, Randy Bratland of Marshalltown and his mom, Lynna (Jack) Seavey of Laurel; two brothers: Shawn (Kim) Bratland and Eric Bratland of Marshalltown; his family at Rumours and his many friends. In death, Chad is reunited with his grandma Maxine; his grandma and grandpa Ed and Margaret Bratland; aunts: Rachel, Melanie and Jana; uncles: Steve and Tom; his cousin, Katie and his friend, Jared Nisius.
