Charlene Lucille Barth

Charlene Lucille Barth, 88, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services for Charlene will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to the family. Charlene Lucille Slocum was born on August 2, 1937 in Nora Springs, Iowa. She was the daughter of Charles and Marzena (Kunhs) Slocum. She received her education in Greene, Iowa. On January 1, 1954, Charlene married her high school sweetheart- Ron Barth. Together, they had three children: Steve, Debra and Ranae. Charlene was employed with the Marshalltown School District, working in food service as a baker and manager for thirty-two years. She loved playing bingo, cards and dominoes, enjoyed traveling, especially to see her daughter in Idaho as well as going sightseeing whether it was the mountains, Jackson Hole, Wyoming or to Cancun, Mexico. Charlene was an avid St Louis Cardinals fan, Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye football. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and active in the Moose Lodge. Above everything else, Charlene enjoyed spending time with her family.

Charlene is survived by her children: Steve (Kathy) Barth and Ranae (Don) Myers. Grandchildren: Stacey (Kyle), Shannon (Scott), Joe, Kayla (Adam), Jeff, and Karlee (Luke). Great-grandchildren: Molly, Suzanna, Layla, Rose and Polly and brothers: Larry (Darlene) Slocum and Don (Nancy) Slocum.

Charlene is preceded in death by her husband: Ron; daughter: Debra Maddox; siblings: Ron Slocum, Tom Slocum, Dick Slocum and Gary Slocum, and parents: Charles and Marzena.
