Charles Hudson Alexander

Charles Alexander, 83, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Faith Assembly of God Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Charles Hudson Alexander was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, he was the son of Earl Hudson and Lottie Laverne (Plumb) Alexander. Charles attended school in the Marshalltown School District. On June 4, 1948, Charles Hudson Alexander was united in marriage to Clara Wilma Schultz in Marshalltown where they resided their entire married life. Charles had worked at Marshalltown Trowel for 46 years retiring in 1992. Charles and Clara were members of the Faith Assembly of God Church for over 65 years. Charles enjoyed woodworking and making things with the grandchildren from his talent. He was great at finding a bargain and avid at getting those rebates. Left to cherish Charles memory are his children: Joyce (Gary) Blanchard of Marshalltown; Char (Marc) Riveland of Marshalltown; David (Denise) Alexander of Melbourne; and Jana (Dale) Meyer of Grundy Center; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchildren. Sister, Charlotte (George) Zeimer, step-brother, Gordon (Darlene) Stiles, sister-in-law, Inez Alexander and Ethel Stiles, Step sister, Carol(Gordon)Faulkner. In death, Charles rejoins his beloved wife Clara, brother Joe Alexander; Sisters: Dorothy (Chester) Hayes, Violet (August) Williams Lois (Virgil) Rainsbarger and step-brother, Kenny Stiles and Lowell Stiles.
