Chuck Baker

Charles “Chuck” Paul Baker, 80, of Union, passed away with family by his side on December 20, 2023, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown.

A funeral service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish: St Mary Catholic Church (this will not be a full mass) 9 W Linn St, Marshalltown on December 30th at 10 :00 A.M. with private burial to follow. A celebration of life will be held at Lincoln Valley Golf Course where you can express condolences to family. Lunch will be available and of course enjoy your favorite drink while sharing your favorite memories.

Chuck was born on March 16th, 1943, in rural Conrad, IA to Claude Baker Jr. and Margaret Marie Behrens. Chuck attended Beaman-Conrad school system where he graduated in 1962. Chuck was united in marriage to Marylin Stover and to this union two children were born: Lisa and Randy, they later divorced. Chuck married Linda (Goecke) Baker in 1970 and to this union three children were born: Kimberly, Brandi and Stephanie. In 2004, Chuck and Shirley (Wall) met and began their journey together where they shared a blended family.

Chuck lived in Virginia where he was a herdsman before returning to Iowa. He worked at various trucking and ranch jobs (Pepsi, Colossal Cattle Co, Bill Smith Cattle Co, Sugar Loaf Farms, Shinrone Farms, Anderson Distribution & Severe Trucking) over his career before retiring at UPS in 2005. Chuck loved the outdoors, anything that involved hunting and fishing, going to coffee or out to dinner with friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and Shirley and her children and grandchildren.

Chuck is survived by his companion of 19 years, Shirley Wall. Children: Lisa (Larry) Shaw of Paradise Valley, AZ. Randy (Mel) Bueghly of Glendale, AZ. Kimberly (Travis) Hancock, Rhodes, IA. Stephanie (Mike) Healey, Spencer, IA. Chad (Julie) Wall, Cedar Rapids, IA. Brad (Rae Lee) Wall, Liscomb, IA. Grandchildren: Dylan & Kayla Shaw, Ryan Bueghly, Lauren Solberg, Laynee and Bowen Healey. Madysen, Tucker and Jacey Wall.

Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter Brandi Baker, parents Claude and Margaret Baker, brother John Baker, sister Claudette Bluntach and nephew Mark Baker.
