Charles Robert Ethington

Charles Robert Ethington, 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on March 1, 2017, at the Windsor Manor Assisted Living Center in Nevada, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5th, at the Mitchell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 6th, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, 3001 S. 6th St., Marshalltown, IA 50158. Charles was born April, 26, 1931, the son of Alva and Catherine Ethington. He grew up in State Center and served in the National Guard. He married Annie Mary Fluharty on Valentines Day, February 14, 1951, a marriage that lasted for 60 inseparable years before her passing in 2011. For many years, Charles was an independent insurance agent, owning his own agency. He was actively involved with Our Savior Lutheran Church and volunteered at Central Iowa Healthcare as a greeter and assisting surgery patients. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie, and by two brothers, Bernie and Donnie and one sister, Doris. He is survived by two brothers: Dale of Melbourne and Joe (Phyllis) of State Center as well as his four children: Tom (Lonnie) Ethington of Marshalltown, Stan (Lynn) Ethington of Des Moines, Cathy (Ray) Schwichtenberg of Nevada and Valerie (Rick) Bellile of Marshalltown. There are nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
