Charles Green

Charles Green, 55, of Conrad, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. He started raising hogs during his high school career. He achieved his Eagle Scout before graduating from the Beaman-Conrad High School in 1975.He fell in love with Deborah Cantellis Shafer. They were married May 27, 1978, at the Disciples of Christ Church in Eldora, Iowa. They were married for 34 years. The couple was blessed with three children:Sharon Cantellis, Devan Charles and Diedra Leigh Cantellis. Charles and Deb made their lives together as stewards of their land and shepherds of their animals dairy farming. They taught their love of farming to their children. Charles enjoyed time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his compassionate nature, kind heart, sense of humor and wit, great smile and blue eyes.Charles is survived by his wife Deborah of Conrad and his children: Sharon (Gabriel) Smith of Twin Falls, Idaho, Devan (Carmen Duver) Green of Conrad and Deidra Green of Conrad, his parents Leslie and Margaret Green of Conrad, siblings: Lawrence (Glenda) Green of Hampton, Iowa, Nancy (Gary) Kalkwarf of Pella, Iowa, Mary (Steven) Green-Warnstadt of Sioux City, Iowa: nieces and nephews: Trevor and Kierra Green of Hampton, Iowa, Gregory, Bryon and Molly Kalkwarf of Pella, Iowa and Stephanie and Jackson Warnstadt of Sioux City, Iowa, as well as many friends.Charles is preceded in death by his grandparents Clifford Green, Earl and Martha Persinger and his uncles James Green and Frances Persinger.
