Charles Renken, age 79, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the evening of August 14, 2021 at Unity Point Health Allen Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. At this time cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned at this time. Memorials in Charles name may be directed to the family for a later designation. Charles Gerhart Renken was born on June 30, 1942 to parents Ernie and Mabel (Harnch) Renken in Strawberry Point, Iowa. He grew up attending school in Strawberry Point School District. Out of high school, he began work as a glass worker. Though the company changed numerous times most recently being Kinman Glass. On June 6, 1981, Charles was united in marriage to his wife Pamela K. Whitmore. Together through the years they raised their son Jeff. The two celebrated a number of years together until her passing in 1993. In November 1994, he was reunited in marriage to Beverly Renken and they celebrated a number of years together until her passing in 2016. In his free time, Charles was a generous philanthropist for a number of organizations, he was a proud democratic supporter, he loved to go out after work for social times with his friends, was a hard worker, taking trips to holiday lake, helping out anyone in any capacity that he could, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Left to remember and cherish his memory are his son Jeff (Natalie) Renken and step children Scott (Cindy) Zeman, Steve Zeman and Kathy (Charlie) Zeman; his grandchildren Taeviss, Allison, and Hayden and numerous step grandchildren; his niece Wanda Renken; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wives Pamela and Beverly; and his siblings Merle and Loriane.
