Charles Saint, 88, of Waterloo formerly of Lincoln, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016, at Unity Point Hospice Care in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time at 11:00 at the funeral home. Per the families request casual clothing is encouraged. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Unity Point Hospice of Waterloo, Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook, or Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Military Honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 839 and by American Legion Posts in the Marshalltown area. For condolences or questions please visit: www.mitchellfh.com . Charles William Saint was born on July 17, 1928, in Eldora, Iowa, he was the son of Ray and Martha (Balvanz) Saint. Charles attended school in the Owasa Community School District graduating with the Class of 1947. Charles served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1954, serving in the Korean War. On August 15, 1954, Charles was united in marriage to Kathryn Pfantz at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa. Charles began working at the Light Company in State Center before finding his passion as a farmer. Upon retiring from farming he started his own business Quality Equipment Company. At that time he also worked at Theisen's in Marshalltown, Iowa. He had been a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook, Iowa having served in various areas of the church; he also was a member of the Gladbrook American Legion. After moving to Waterloo he became a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Charles enjoyed reading, always enjoyed a good meal, pinochle, fishing and above all loved and enjoyed his family. Left to cherish Charles memory is his wife of 62 years, Kathryn of Waterloo, children, Denise Klinefelter (late Marvin Klinefelter) of rural Marshalltown, Iowa, Vicki (Tim) Stuber and Chris (Gary) Uhland both of Waterloo, Iowa, grandchildren, Lindsey (Corey) Frost of Urbandale, Iowa, Jeremy Klinefelter of Albion, Iowa Jason Stuber of Webster City, Iowa and great-grandsons, Vaughn and August Frost, sibling, Betty Hahn of Spooner, Wisconsin, and a host of family and friends. In death Charles rejoins his parents, Ray and Martha, son-in-law, Marvin Klinefelter, sisters, Helen (Allen) Young and Ruth (George) Davis and brother-in-law, Bill Hahn.
