Charlie Freese, 71, of Marshalltown, died early Sunday morning, November 13, 2011, at the Iowa River Hospice House with his loving children and wife at his side.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 17th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Wilson of the Green Mountain UCC officiating. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Charlie and his family: Ph. 641-844-1234.Born on July 20, 1940, at Melbourne, he was the son of Leo John and Frieda Agnes (Neuroth) Freese. He graduated from the Rhodes High School in 1958.Charlie was employed for the railroad, telephone company, Cooper Manufacturing, and most recently Swifts, retiring from there in 1995 as a supervisor. He enjoyed camping and boating, watching NASCAR and achieving his dream of going to Daytona and Bristol for their races. He was a Rusty Wallace fan before he gained notoriety and was not afraid to try new and different things- like water skiing or boating up the Des Moines River to see how far he could go. He also enjoyed wintering in Texas and never missed his children or grandchildrens activities.Left to mourn his loss are Helga, his loving wife he married on February 27, 1995, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, three children: Jay (Cindy) Freese of Montour, Jackie (Tim) Stonewall of Marshalltown and Judy Freese of Marshalltown, his grandchildren- Marriah and Conner, his step-children- Chris (Jim) Long of Vinton and their children Josh, Jesse and Jake and Jesses daughter Annabelle; and Greg (Betsy) Barker of Bella Vista, Arkansas and their sons Tyler and Logan, his siblings: Caroline (Bud) Phillips of Clemons, Laverne Freese of State Center, Earl (Linda) Freese of Howe, Texas and JoAnne DeFrance of Bloomington, Indiana as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and camping buddies.In death, he rejoined his parents, sister/brother-in-law Lorraine and Lewis Rowles, sister-in-law Barb Freese and brother-in-law Wes Rohach.
