Charlotte Grewell

Charlotte Char Grewell, 76, Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Funeral services for Char will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Jech officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Char will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Chars name to her family and the family will then donate to Breast Cancer Research in memory of Char. Charlotte Schlesinger was born on October 23, 1937, in Mendota, Illinois, the daughter of Emil and Lucille (Bowman) Schlesinger. She was raised and educated in the Mendota school district graduating from Mendota High School. Char went on to Iowa State University where she received her Bachelors Degree. On August 18, 1957, Char married the love of her life William L. Grewell in Compton Illinois. From this union five children were born; Shari, Tim, Judy, David and Tom. Char was involved in many different memberships which included: Bells of Iowa State, PTA, JAYCEETTES and Sugar Creek Homeowners. She had a passion for golfing, skiing, farming and gardening. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Shari Allen, Tim (Martha) Grewell, Judy (Dan) Cluck, David (Michelle) Grewell and Tom Grewell; Grandchildren: Grace Crawford, Hannah Allen, Nathan (Leanne Davis) Grewell, Danielle (Joel) Downs, Brittany (Michael) Sandquist, Beth Vonk, Zoe Cluck, Cole Grewell and Sydney Grewell; Great-Grandchildren: Kailynn Grewell, Weston Sandquist and Braydon Vonk; siblings: Donna, Lorna (Ron) Friedel, Norm (Diane) Schlesinger and Mervin (Kay) Schlesinger. She is preceded in death by her husband: William L. Grewell, one grandson: Conner Grewell and one granddaughter: Jacy Grewell
