Charlotte Howell

Charlotte E. Howell, 88, formerly of Rhodes, Iowa passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday night, December 1, 2012, while in the care of Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning Dec. 8th at Rhodes, Eden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday Dec. 7 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Family. Phone: 641-844-1234.Charlotte was born on October 28th, 1924, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was the daughter of Roy E. and Myrtle J. Gooding, the youngest of four siblings born of that union. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School. On August 16, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harold J. Howell at Gainsville, TX. They lived in Rhodes nearly all of their married lives where she and Harold owned Rhodes Hardware. After retirement she lived at Bickford Cottage in Marshalltown until Harolds death, (June 2006) when she moved to Pennsylvania where she was cared for by her daughter Ruth until May 2010 when she returned to Iowa to live out her life at the Iowa Veterans Home. Left to cherish her memory are her children: son, John (Nancy) Howell of Corpus Christi, TX, daughter, Ruth (Jim) Potteiger of Dillsburg, PA and daughter, Mary (Floyd) Guthrie of Rochester, MN; her grandchildren: John Howell (Sioux Falls, SD), Joel Howell (Bartlesville, OK), Brian Potteiger (Raleigh, NC), Angela Moran (Greensboro, NC) and Kerry Wixon (Warrensburg, MO); her great-grandchildren: Hunter and Kamryn Potteiger, Connor and Johnathan Moran, and Adelin and Briley Howell;as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.In death she has lovingly reunited with her husband Harold, her parents, and brothers: Bud, Vern and Jerry Gooding.
