Charyl Ann Finders, 69, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Iowa River Hospice Home with her loving family by her side. Memorial services for Charyl will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Manker officiating. Public visitation will be held from 4:00 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Born in Algona, Iowa on July 18, 1945, to Donald and Christena Cook. Charyl was the youngest in her family. Greeting her at home were her brothers Don and Terry, and sister Sandy. Charyl attended Algona High School where she was a cheerleader and school leader. She was an accomplished swimmer and diver, winning many awards in her teenage years. Charyl graduated from Algona High School in 1963. Charyl attended the University of Northern Iowa. She graduated in 1967 with a Physical Education degree. She was a teacher in the Marshalltown Community School District for thirty-five years. In 1969, Charyl Cook and Douglas Finders were married. The couple lived in Marshalltown their entire married life of 45 years. The family grew to include Scott Douglas, Dougs son from a previous marriage, Alyssa Renae and Tyson Jeffrey. A devoted mother, Charyl lavished her attention on her family. Her grandchildren, Nicole Lang, Ashley Lang, Jack Finders, Trenten Finders, Matthew Finders, Ashten Finders and Brenden Finders, were the pride of her life. She loved her family dearly. Charyl was a proud member of the American Legion Womens Golf and YMCA. She also had a passion for swimming, traveling, golfing and gardening. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Douglas Finders; children: Scott (Penny) Finders of El Segundo, CA; Alyssa (Jeff) Lang of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Tyson (Erica) Finders of Marshalltown, IA; grandchildren: Nicole and Ashley Lang, Jack Finders, Trenten Finders, Matthew Finders, Ashten and Brenden Finders; one sister: Sandy (Tom) Kauffman of Troy, MO; sister-in-law, Pat Cook of West Des Moines, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Terry and Don and her grandparents.
