Cherine Schnelle, 60, of Laurel, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of Sunday, August 14, 2016, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services for Cherine will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Bob Spilger officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Cherine and her family. Cherine Nikkel was born on September 23, 1955, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Marilyn (VerDught) Nikkel. She was raised and educated in the Lynnville-Sully school district, graduating from high school with the class of 1973. On April 15, 1976, Cherine married the love of her life, Michael Schnelle at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. From this union two daughters were born: Dana and Teri. Cherine had a colorful work history, finishing her working years with Swift Greenhouse in Laurel, Iowa. She had a passion for gardening, her horses and her family. Left to cherish Cherines memory is her husband, Michael Schnelle; two daughters: Dana (Marvin) Connor and Teri (Levi McBain) Schnelle; grandchildren: Deliah and Brody Connor; siblings: Patty (Mark) Norman, Barry (Mary) Nikkel, Leslie Nikkel and Doreen Fisk. She is preceded in death by her father, Lester Nikkel and father and mother in law; Alvin (Wanda) Schnelle.
