Christopher Hand

Christopher L. Hand, 66 of Conrad and formerly of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, Iowa.

Christopher Hand was born on August 20, 1956 in Grinnell, Iowa to John and Roberta (Jones) Hand. Chris graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1974. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Buena Vista University in 1990. Chris farmed for twenty years, worked for the Des Moines Police Department for seven years and the Department of Corrections for five years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching. Chris loved his cats. He was fun-loving and his wit and sarcasm were quick to bring laughter to those around him. He was especially proud of his children: Justin (retired), Brandon (retired) and Kelly (nearly retired) for enlisting in the United States Air Force.

Christopher is survived by his children: Justin (Tona) Hand of Nemo, South Dakota, Brandon (Chantal) Hand of Edmond, Oklahoma, Michelle (Joe) Sharp of Conrad, Iowa and Kelly (Erik) Adams of Bossier City, Louisiana. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Destiny, Landan, Teagen, Gavin, Kaidynce, Devon, Chloe, Jaxson, Nash, Hunter, Blair “Riley”, Madilyn, Linkin, Sierra, Kylie and Madison; sister: Mary along with another sister and one brother.

Chris is preceded in death by his wife: Christina Hand; parents: John and Roberta and sisters: Candy and Vicky (in infancy).
