Christopher "Chris" Morrison

Christopher “Chris” Morrison, 55, of Newton, formerly of Tama, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, March 28, 2022. A Celebration of Life for Chris is planned for Sunday, April 10 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Christopher Cooley Morrison was born on June 29, 1966 to Jerry and Kathryn Mason Morrison. Chris met the love of his life, Tammy Wilson in 1990 and they were united in marriage on February 3, 2000 in Marshalltown. Chris had been a handyman and musician in many bands, including, Phantasy, Smokin Bone and the MDL Band. Chris was very creative and artistic and he enjoyed doing interior decorating projects, as well. Chris was very funny and was known for his dry sense of humor. Everything he did in life was driven by his deep love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Chris is survived by his wife of 22 years, Tammy; children: Samantha (Jason) Bogue of Tama, Michelle Morrison (Rodney) of Steamboat Rock, Courtney (Tyler) Schulmeister of Whitten, Nichole (Jesse) Switzer of Marshalltown, Katlyn Morrison-Morgan (Alex) of Gladbrook, Ashley Morrison (Tim) of Gladbrook and Christian (Haleigh) Morrison of Newton; grandchildren: Jordan, Dakota, Caleb, Landon, Lela, E’Lara, Sebastian, Jay, Jemri, Luna, Jewel, Clara, Star and baby Morrison due in August. He is also survived by his mother, Kathryn and former wife and lifelong friend, Kim Morrison. Christopher is preceded in death by his father, Jerry; stepfather, Darrell Peshel; his grandparents and his cousin, Rick Mason.
