Chylena Woodsmall

Chylena Jean Woodsmall, 47, of Marshalltown died Wednesday, June 29, at the Iowa River Hospice House while in their loving care and that of her family. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Born Chylena Jean Vassey on August 21, 1963, in Marshalltown, Iowa, she was the daughter of Larry Joe and Janice Arlene Vassey. On May 23, 2007, she was united in marriage to Donnie Ray Woodsmall in Peru, Indiana. They made their home in Marshalltown where she had been employed with Miller Middle School for 11 years and most recently Grandview Heights. While her children were growing up, she served as the neighborhood mom - always accepting her childrens friends for who they were. She loved her family, the sounds of slot-machines and Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Donnie, her children: Sara Emery, Steven Emery, Chad Emery and Monique Woodsmall all of Marshalltown, her grandchildren: Shantel Jensen, Shane Jensen, Exavier Emery, Jimai Pal, Kayleana Woodsmall all of Marshalltown, her father Larry Joe Vassey of Peru, Indiana, brothers Kevin Vassey of Marshalltown and Jeff Vassey of Florida as well as many friends. In death, Chylena rejoined her mother, Arlene.
