Cynthia “Cindi” Marie (Green) Squier, 67, of Des Moines, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, surrounded by her family at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Celebration of Life service for Cindi will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at West Des Moines United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place prior to the service, beginning starting at 10:00 A.M.
Cindi was born on June 19, 1957. She had worked at Des Moines University for thirty-seven years, as a medical billing and coding specialist, retiring in 2015. She also worked part time at Mediacom for ten years. Cindi was a Cub Scout Treasurer and President of the AFSCME Labor Union.
Cindi enjoyed spending time with family by volunteering for her kids and grandkids activities including soccer, baseball, choir, baking cakes, camping, and making tons of Christmas Candies every year. Cindi and Pat always kept an open-door policy at their house. They would never turn away anyone for holidays or opening the door to their home to stay. They accepted everyone with open arms. She loved her Cadillac and enjoyed a good glass of wine as well as her many fur babies’ including her cats and dogs. Most of all, she dearly loved spending time and spoiling her grandbabies especially. She always made you feel special by calling you “her favorite”.
Cindi is survived by her husband of 45 years, Patrick “Pat” Squier: two children, Mark (Crystal) Squier and Ann (Rob) Squier-Hammond; 4 grandkids Dylan, Lacey, Bella, Josh Squier, and 3 step grandkids Willow, Andrew and Cory Hammond as well as 9 great grandchildren and her siblings John Green, Steve (Marsha) Green, and Leline “Lecy” Wailes.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Ralph (Barbara) Green, In laws Ed (Evelyn) Squier, Sister-In-Laws Cindy Green and Joan Green, Brother-In-Law Genie Wailes, and Step Grandson Andrew Hammond.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Cindi’s honor at the Mayo Clinic Hospital for the LVAD Transplant Unit. The LVAD device Cindi had, provided our family ten more years to make precious memories. With your donations it could allow other families more time with their loved ones as well.
