Clair G. Mason, 69, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, with his family by his side. Visitation for Cege will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded and he will be laid to rest in the Union Cemetery during a private ceremony with military rites. Mason (C.G.) was born on December 5, 1946 in Marshalltown to Clair M Bud and Katherine Pursel Mason. Cege graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1965 where he excelled in swimming and gymnastics and set many records. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1966 until 1970 and later served with the Iowa National Guard. Cege had worked for Masons Furniture, Iowa Wholesale and Marshalltown Packaging. On February 21, 1998, Clair was united in marriage to Kathy Kleman Jensen. Cege always had a joke or story ready to share with his many friends, and he had a big, outgoing personality and a big smile. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing especially with his closest childhood friend, Doug Baker. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, loved his cats and was an avid Price is Right fan. A few folks knew that he kept a notebook of all the cars up for give-away during the shows, and catalogued the price of each and every one of them for years. Cege is survived by his wife of 18 years; Kathy; Ceges children from previous separate marriages, Joshua Charles Mason and Jenifer Jane Mason; Siblings: Mary K (Phil) Middelkoop and Al (Gayle) Mason, his aunt Dr. Rachel Mason as well as two nieces and two nephews. Clair is preceded in death by his parents Bud and Katherine. Memorials may be made to the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
