Claire Fay

Claire Fay, age 99, of Marshalltown, passed away on the morning of Saturday, July 4th, at the Unity Point Hospital in Marshalltown.           Private family funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born Claire Maxine Casselberry on February 11th, 1921, in Wacker (Carrol County) Illinois, she was the daughter of Walter Norwood and Phoebe R. (Schroeppel) Casselberry. After graduating from the Mt. Carrol High School, she attended Business College (Scovill Schools in Sterling IL).           On March 17th, 1945, she was united in marriage to Charles Wilson Fay, Jr. in Chicago. Their marriage was blessed with calling several communities home during those years including Chicago and Savana IL, Maquoketa, IA, Rockford, IL, Ft Collins, CO, and Marshalltown. While residing in Maquoketa (1952-1967), she was employed by KMAQ Radio and the Maquoketa Community Schools. Later, she was employed by the Board of Education of Rockford, IL and by the Heritage Christian School of Ft. Collins, CO. Her faith was strong, and she served the Lord in Baptist churches as they moved from community to community.        Her life was full of love and commitment for her family and the time together was always precious. She enjoyed, camping, traveling (including all 50 U.S. States and Canadian Provinces), gardening, knitting, crocheting and playing the piano and organ. Her faith was strong and sharing it with children and youth was important to her. She served the Lord in Baptist churches as they moved from community to community.           She and Charles were blessed with twins- Charles W. Fay, III (Paulette Huisinga) of Decatur, IL and Charlene Johnson (Doug) of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Michelle P. Fay Schwenk, Charles W. Fay, IV, Heidi Fay Tarin, Stephen J. Johnson, Brian D. Johnson, Laurie K. Johnson DeMeyer and Katherine R. Johnson Eby; great-grandchildren- Paul R.E. Schwenk, Jacob C.L. Schwenk, Elizabeth M. Schwenk, Graham H. Fay, Lucy C. Fay, Ethan C. Fay, Isaac C.E. Fay, Braden R. Tarin, Micah C. Tarin, Joshia T. Tarin, Trevor S. Johnson, Connor A. Johnson, Andrew M. Johnson, Eric C. Johnson, Wyatt C DeMeyer, Jesse D. DeMeyer, Naomi K. Eby, Hannah C. Eby, Emma P. Eby, Tobiah M. Eby and Elijah G. Eby.           In eternal life she rejoined her husband, her parents and siblings.
