Clara Estudillo-Fragroso

Clara Estudillo-Fragroso, age 77, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025 in the comfort of her home.

Services for Clara will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Clara’s name may be directed to her family for a later designation. Clara was born September 25, 1947 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was the eldest of three children born to Hector Estudillo and Calixtia Teresa Fragroso. Clara grew up in Tampico and where she attended school.

She was united in marriage to Jose Bernabe Herrera and together had four children, Jose, Maria, Victor and Marco. Clara moved to Harlingen, Texas in 1980. She began working at El Taquitos Café where she met many people over the years and considered friends. In 1997, She moved to Marshalltown, Iowa to be closer to her children. After her move, she began work at JBS at their Marshalltown location and would eventually retire. In her free time, Clara enjoyed relaxing and taking things easy, listening to music and going dancing as well as spending as much time as she could with her family. Her children remember all of the times that she baked delicious food for them and will have those memories to cherish.

Clara leaves behind her children, Jose Luis Herrera of Matamoros, Mexico, Maria Guadalupe (José) Aldana of Marshalltown, IA, Victor Manuel (Amy) Herrera of Marshalltown, IA, and Marco Antonio (Patricia) Herrera of Marshalltown, IA; her grandchildren, Joe Anthony, Marissa Yvette, Joselyn, Angeline, Jonathan Matthew, Victor Manuel II, Tristan Michael, Jessica Jazmin, Leonardo, Hector, Lilliana, Lexis, Shakira Ann and Marco Antonio Jr.; her great-grandchildren Julian Javier, Zachary, Amary and Layla; her siblings, Juan Jose Estudillo and Marissa Estudillo; alongside numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hector Estudillo and Calixta Teresa Fragroso.
