Clarence "Jim" Anderson

Clarence “Jim” Anderson, age 88, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on September 2, 2024, at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown.

A funeral service for “Jim” is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Jim and his family. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Clarence James Anderson was born August 23, 1936 at his home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence H. and Gretchen Maxine (Mullin) Anderson. Clarence was known as “Jim” by many of his relatives and friends. He attended Marshalltown High School and was part of the graduating class of 1955. After high school Clarence soon joined the work force. He worked for Fisher Controls for 25 years and was also involved in the highway commission. Clarence was a proud member of the Moose Lodge, the Eagles, and the U.A.W. workers union. In his free time, he enjoyed working on word puzzles, playing cards, shooting pool, and was fascinated by trains. Most importantly he was known as a simple man that was very involved with the local Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his sisters: Beatrice Runner and Betty Burgess; his nieces and nephews: Ron (Debbie) Burgess, Mīna Burgess, Marcia Burgess, Jodi (Tom) Hilleman, Janet (Kenny) Hutcheson, David (Jane) Runner and Judy (Steve) Carter; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Gretchen Anderson; his brother-in-laws, Donald Runner and Albert Burgess; his nephews: Dennis Burgess, Robert Burgess, Donald Dean Runner, Tommy Runner, and two in infancy.
