Cleo Ruth Hamilton, 98 of Marshalltown passed away on Wednesday, February 01, 2017, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa with Pastor Jerry Newswander officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Cleo Ruth Derigo was born on November 20, 1918; she was the daughter of Roy and Harriet (Neely) Derigo in Lancaster, Missouri. On June 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lonnie Hamilton in Lancaster, Missouri. After Lonnie returned from the Army they made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was a past Matron and 62 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Central Chapter #67 and a member of American Legion Auxiliary, a past President of the Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and past president of the City PTA and Anson School PTA. She had been a member of the Monthly Card Club for over 50 years. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Lea (Jim) McDonald of Marion, Iowa, and son, Mike (Rhonda) Hamilton of Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin. Grandsons, Mark (Pam) McDonald of Denver, Colorado and Scott McDonald of Bettendorf, Iowa, great-grandsons, Joshua and Aidan. In death Cleo rejoins her husband, Lonnie who died in 1991, her parents and an infant sister. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Southridge Specialty Care for the special and loving care that Cleo received over the past 7 and 1/2 years. The family is also grateful to Care Initiative Hospice for helping Cleo transition with peace and dignity.
